Quake 2
Activision releasing another port of Quake II at this point in time -- especially on a console system -- might seem a
little strange with Quake III Arena on the rise, but I believe that this release is long overdue. With the Nintendo 64
port of Quake II being released not too long ago, it's about time that a playstation version of the *king* of first person
shooters was released. As for the console part -- tons of maps, mods, skins, mission paks, etc have been developed for PC
platform of Quake II. I believe that these additions to the game is what really is keeping it alive. And of course all the
additions aren't available on your PSX. However, I think Activision did a wonderful job converting this classic to your
playstation.
I had to give it only four B's because of the limitations brought forth by the playstation itself. No addtions to the
game are possible, and playing it on a playstation controller is a little weak (I MISS MY MOUSE!). However they let you
totally customize your controller, and i'm certainly glad they didn't limit multiplayer to 2 players.

Although I've only tried this game on bleem, the graphics are quite impressive for a playstation game. The 3D isn't
TOO bad, and it's not TOO slow either. The menu system is pretty nice and easy to navigate through. The FMV is a
wonderfully added touch.
Quake II deserves four B's in my opinion, only comparing its graphics to OTHER PLAYSTATION games. Obviously they aren't
amazing, superior, ground breaking graphics or anything. But hold up quite well for a psx game.

Sound eh? If that's what you would call it in this game, i'm not sure. Well. The background music is good -- kinda cock
rockish, but it goes along with the game very well. The sound effects however, is where the game suffers. And does it ever
suffer. The gun shots sound like someone stomping their foot on the floor. The rocket is virtually silent. And well. The
rest is just poor.
Perhaps my sound FX were lacking because of Bleem, but I don't think they would've been as lacking as they were. On a good
note, the menu sounds aren't too bad. Although I believe that there is great room for improvement (considering the game
only takes up 1/2 of the CD).

Surprisingly enough for a brand new game, it plays excellently on Bleem v1.4. It plays the FMV's pretty well with
occasional sound skips, and handles the in-game graphics very well. MEMORY CARDS work too! Joy!
Very well done for a playstation game. Sound could've improved, graphics are pretty good, and you got your 4 player
deathmatch (assuming you have the addon)! This title is definately worth checking out if you're a Quake II fan, or even
if you've never played the game in your life !

Very well for a PSX game. The optional deathmatch mode rocks - Something every
Quake fan should check out.
